I struggled with getting the nice-n-shiny Google icons for docs and calendar on my iPhone.  Clearing my cache, closing browser tabs, and swearing didn’t work.

1. On your iPhone, go to www.google.com.
2. Make sure you see the blue bar across the top of the page with links to Gmail, Calendar, Reader, etc.



3.  Select your desired app (e.g., Calendar).
4. Or, select More to see stuff like Google Talk and Docs (yay!).
5. When you’re on the page for the app you want to add to your home screen, click the plus sign to add it.

This will get the icons you want where going to docs.google.com won’t.
